“Not every fairy tale consists of two perfect people who are destined to fall in love. In the real world, perfect doesn’t exist, especially to those who have bled and are scarred by the thorns that pricked them.”  Katerina Bray, Barely Breathing

~ Author Interview ~

Katerina Bray, Author of Barely Breathing

Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! Today, I have the pleasure of interviewing Indie Author, Katerina Bray. She recently released her debut novel – Barely Breathing, which is available on Amazon now.

Hello, Katerina, and thank you for taking the time to complete this interview! Why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hello Kate, thank you for having me! Well what can I say? I’ll give you the generics. My name is Katerina Bray, I am 30 years old, and married. My husband and I live in a small town in Pennsylvania.

When and why did you start writing? Was there anyone or anything in particular that inspired you to write?

I started writing here and there in 2014 after my miscarriage so I could escape the pain of it and our continuous from problems having a family. Then became more serious about writing after meeting you, Kate. You gave me the courage to do something with my story and taught me how to make it better! (Thank you by the way)
As for who inspired me? It would have to be my Maia (grandmother in Romanian). Losing her was very difficult but watching her be strong until the end was a huge eye opener for me.

Any big achievements that you are especially proud of?

Hands down it is writing and completing Barely Breathing.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

It would have to be how much editing really goes into making a book and then by the end you realize it still might never actually be perfect.

How do you think you’ve evolved creatively?
I have learned so much this year. My writing skills and understanding of what it means to write are top on that list. It was my biggest learning curve and I’m still working to better myself and knowledge.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

EDITING and Show vs tell!

What kind of audience would enjoy your books? Who are they aimed at?

Adults and Romance lovers for sure! Any one over the age of 18 is my target audience.

I understand this is the first book in your series. Tell us about the series it’s part of.

Yes, Barely Breathing is the first of three books. This series is about people who’ve lived through many tough situations and have held on strong during those times of adversity. It shows that everyone handles hardships differently and their Strength comes in many shapes and sizes.

What is your next novel and when will it be available?

The next book is called Scarred Wings and I hope to have it published by the end of this year.

Any advice for first time writers?

Do your research and find a buddy who will stand by you through this journey. Without mine, this interview would not be happening because I would’ve given up a long time ago.
